Why Cadre

The live session ends.
The useful content starts.

Cadre gives the person who knows the message control of the finished video—so a launch, tutorial, sales walkthrough or internal update can ship while it is still timely.

How it works

From a rough recording to a finished video

Keep working with the assistant that already knows your brief and audience. Cadre gives it the specialist video tools for the production work.

1

Record or import

Capture your screen, system audio, microphone and camera—or bring in an existing webcast, tutorial or demo recording.

2

Give your assistant the brief

Open Edit with AI, describe the result, then open the prepared request in ChatGPT Work or Claude Cowork. You review and send the draft yourself.

3

Review, revise and deliver

Watch the edit in Cadre, ask for a revision or adjust the timeline yourself, then export a polished H.264 MP4 for your existing publishing workflow.

The craft

Polish without the production queue

The recurring craft behind clear company video—automatic where it should be, editable where it matters.

Automatic cinematic zoom

Click detection plus real spring physics zoom into the action and ease back out — generated automatically and editable on the timeline. See how automatic zoom works.

Buttery cursor motion

HID-level cursor tracking is spring-smoothed and re-rendered, so every movement glides instead of jitters.

Camera Only, directed by your coworker

Record a presenter video through your webcam, then ask your assistant to animate the shot with editable reframing, zooms, captions and backgrounds—all built around you.

Keystroke overlays

Shortcuts appear on screen as elegant pills. What you type is never recorded at all — plain keystrokes are dropped as they happen, so a password entered mid-demo never reaches disk.

Backgrounds & frames

Wallpapers, gradients, device frames and soft shadows turn a raw capture into a designed shot.

Cuts & speed ramps

Ripple-delete dead air and ramp playback speed with smooth transitions — tighten a five-minute take to the good parts.

Blur & highlight masks

Hide a secret in a config file or spotlight a region — time-bound masks follow the timeline.

On-device captions

Transcribe locally with Whisper, click any caption to correct it, and choose an Apple-like or custom type style — no audio ever leaves your Mac. Read the local captioning guide.

Export to MP4

Render a crisp H.264 MP4 at source, 720p or 1080p — cuts, zooms, captions and audio mixed down in one pass.

Bring existing footage

Import MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI footage, generate a private transcript and direct a new cut with the same non-destructive editor.

Speaker notes, outside the frame

Keep a floating script close while you present. Cadre excludes its speaker-notes window from the recording so the delivery stays natural and the frame stays clean.

Camera Only

Record yourself. Let your coworker build the visual story.

Point Cadre at your webcam and talk. There is no screen to share and nothing to design — the camera becomes the frame, styled with the same backgrounds, corner radius and shadow Cadre gives a screen recording.

Then describe what should appear beside you. Your assistant adds animated text callouts and SVG graphics on the timeline, and moves the camera between full-frame, a corner and hidden across any span of the take. Every graphic is an ordinary timeline segment: you can retime it, move it, restyle it or delete it, and undo works exactly as it does for your own edits.

  • Animated text and SVG overlays with entrance, exit and keyframed motion.
  • Camera layout by span — full frame while you introduce, corner while a graphic lands, hidden where it should not be.
  • SVG is sanitised on the way in: scripts, event handlers and external references are stripped before anything reaches the timeline.
A smooth push-in as the chart builds beside the speaker. Edited in Cadre; AI-generated source footage.

FAQ

Good questions

What is Cadre for?

Cadre gives the desktop assistant you already use specialist recording and video-editing tools. It helps marketers, customer educators, consultants, trainers and founders turn rough recordings into polished demos, tutorials and presentations on a Mac.

Which assistants work with Cadre?

ChatGPT Work and Claude Cowork are Cadre's primary desktop-assistant paths. Both start from a reviewable draft in Edit with AI and require the assistant desktop app on the same Mac as Cadre. Claude Code, Codex and other compatible MCP clients are also supported.

Does Cadre include AI credits?

No. Cadre sells the recorder, editor, rendering engine and local integrations. You use your own ChatGPT or Claude account, subject to that provider's plan, usage limits and data policy.

Does Cadre host live webinars?

No. Keep using your webcast or meeting platform for the live event. Cadre records a screen-led session or imports the footage afterward, then helps produce the tighter replay, tutorial excerpt or follow-up MP4.

Do the captions really run on my Mac?

Yes. Captions are transcribed with Whisper running locally via whisper.cpp. Cadre extracts and mixes your audio, runs the model on-device, and returns word-timed segments. Your audio never leaves the machine.

Can I record my iPhone or iPad?

Yes — connect the device over USB and mirror it as a recording source. Narration comes from your Mac microphone: a mirrored recording carries no Mac system audio, and Cadre does not capture the device's own sound, so plan to talk over the demo.

What can I export?

Cadre exports a high-quality H.264 MP4 at source resolution, 720p or 1080p, with your cuts, zooms, captions and mixed audio rendered in. More container formats are on the roadmap.

macOS says Cadre "cannot be opened" — is something wrong?

Current Cadre downloads are Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, so they should open through the normal macOS security flow. If macOS refuses to open Cadre, download the latest copy from cadre.cam, confirm you are using an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 13 or later, and contact support if the problem continues.

How does pricing work?

Cadre Pro has two tax-inclusive prices: $9 a month, billed as $108 yearly, or $19 a month, billed monthly. Both unlock the whole app — recording, the cinematic editor, optional plain-language editing with supported assistants and unlimited MP4 export. Billing runs through Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record, and you can cancel renewal whenever you like.

Can an agent add motion graphics to a camera-only recording?

Yes. Record Camera Only and the webcam becomes the frame, styled like any other Cadre shot. Your agent can then add animated text callouts and SVG graphics beside you, and move the camera between full frame, a corner and hidden across any span of the take. Every graphic lands on the timeline as an ordinary segment you can retime, restyle or delete, and SVG markup is sanitised before it is accepted — scripts, event handlers and external references are stripped.

Is there a one-time purchase?

Cadre Pro is a subscription: $9 a month billed as $108 yearly, or $19 a month billed monthly. Any one-time Lifetime licence is listed in the pricing card on this page, with its price and exactly which updates it includes. If you do not see one there, it is not currently on sale — rather than promise a date, the option simply appears when it exists.

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes. Recording and editing are free, with no trial clock to manage — record as much as you like, cut it, zoom it, caption it, and watch the finished result in the preview. A licence is required to export the video. So you decide with the finished thing in front of you, not a feature list. If you would rather commit a month at a time, the tax-inclusive $19 monthly plan does that; switch to yearly once it earns its place, and cancel renewal whenever you like.

Which Macs are supported?

macOS 13 (Ventura) or later on Apple Silicon (M-series). Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions are requested the first time you record. Intel support is on the roadmap.

Does Cadre work on Windows?

Not yet. Cadre is available today for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later. A Windows version is planned.
