macOS The agent-native screen recorder

You record.
Cadre finds the frame.

Record your screen, voice and camera. Then direct your AI agent — cinematic zooms, tighter pacing, captions, export. You own the message; the craft goes to the agent you already work with.

$120/year or $50/month · macOS 13+

How it works

Three steps. The middle one is a sentence.

Recording is manual — you know what you want to show. Everything after is direction, not labour.

1

Record

Capture your screen with system audio, mic and webcam — or mirror an iPhone or iPad over USB. Every click, keystroke and cursor move is tracked as you go.

2

Direct the edit

Tell your agent what you want — "cut the pauses, zoom the terminal, caption it." Cadre exposes the whole timeline as a control surface, so the agent executes precisely. Or open the editor and do it by hand.

3

Ship

Export a polished MP4 at the resolution you need — cinematic zooms, smoothed cursor, framed webcam and captions baked in. Ready to post.

The craft

Studio polish, generated for you

The same moves a professional editor makes — automated by physics and click detection, adjustable to the frame.

Automatic cinematic zoom

Click detection plus real spring physics zoom into the action and ease back out — the way pro editors do it, generated automatically and editable on the timeline.

Buttery cursor motion

HID-level cursor tracking is spring-smoothed and re-rendered, so every movement glides instead of jitters.

Webcam, beautifully framed

Drop in your camera with rounded corners, shadow and a background — composited live on the GPU, repositionable per moment.

Keystroke overlays

Show shortcuts on screen as elegant pills — a privacy filter keeps passwords out. Perfect for tutorials.

Backgrounds & frames

Wallpapers, gradients, device frames and soft shadows turn a raw capture into a designed shot.

Cuts & speed ramps

Ripple-delete dead air and ramp playback speed with smooth transitions — tighten a five-minute take to the good parts.

Blur & highlight masks

Hide a secret in a config file or spotlight a region — time-bound masks follow the timeline.

On-device captions

Transcribe your voiceover with Whisper running locally — word-level timing, styled captions, no audio ever leaves your Mac.

Export to MP4

Render a crisp H.264 MP4 at source, 720p or 1080p — cuts, zooms, captions and audio mixed down in one pass.

The difference

Your agent does the edit

Cadre's editor is fully data-driven, so it exposes a complete control surface over a local MCP server. Claude Code — or any MCP-capable agent — can open a project, read the timeline, add zooms, cut, set style, generate captions and export.

  • Local MCP server over 127.0.0.1 — nothing leaves your machine
  • Bearer-token auth, ephemeral port, connect with one claude mcp add
  • Open spec: any agent can drive it, not only Claude
  • The licence gate applies to agents identically — no bypass

Agent editing is launching this week. The recorder and cinematic editor below are ready to use today.

$ claude mcp add --transport http cadre \

# then just ask
zoom on the terminal whenever I type,
  then export it for X

FAQ

Good questions

What does "agent-native" actually mean?

Cadre runs a local server that lets an AI agent direct the edit — open a project, inspect the timeline, add zooms, cut, caption and export. You describe the result you want in plain language; the agent makes the precise timeline changes. It works with Claude Code first, and the control surface is an open spec, so any MCP-capable agent can drive it. See the agent docs.

Is the agent editing available now?

The recorder and the full cinematic editor — auto-zoom, cursor smoothing, cuts, speed ramps, masks, captions and MP4 export — are ready today. Agent editing over MCP is launching this week; the docs describe the connection and the v1 tool set.

Do the captions really run on my Mac?

Yes. Captions are transcribed with Whisper running locally via whisper.cpp. Cadre extracts and mixes your audio, runs the model on-device, and returns word-timed segments. Your audio never leaves the machine.

Can I record my iPhone or iPad?

Yes — connect the device over USB and mirror it as a recording source. Cadre captures the mirrored screen alongside your Mac audio and mic.

What can I export?

Cadre exports a high-quality H.264 MP4 at source resolution, 720p or 1080p, with your cuts, zooms, captions and mixed audio rendered in. More container formats are on the roadmap.

How does pricing work?

One plan, two ways to pay: Cadre Pro is $120 a year, or $50 a month. Both unlock the whole app — recording, the cinematic editor, agent editing over MCP and unlimited MP4 export. Yearly is the price most people should pay: Cadre is a tool you reach for in bursts, and the yearly licence keeps it ready all year for a fifth of the monthly rate. Monthly is there when you need it for a single project. Billing runs through Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record, so VAT and sales tax are handled, and you can cancel renewal whenever you like.

Is there a free version or trial?

No — Cadre is a paid product, with no free tier and no time-limited trial to manage. If you want to prove it on a real project before committing to a year, that's what the $50 monthly plan is for: buy a month, put it through real recordings, and switch to yearly once it earns its place. You can cancel renewal anytime.

Which Macs are supported?

macOS 13 (Ventura) or later on Apple Silicon (M-series). Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions are requested the first time you record. Intel support is on the roadmap.
